What is a search guide?
Search guides are created by experts and are comprised of a series of recommended queries unified by a common theme. The guides allow contributors to complement existing online content and facilitate more thorough and efficient research. For each keyword, users can follow algorithmic search links and/or links to applicable vertical search engines to research the topic further.
Do you have any examples of search guides?
Sure, here are a few examples we recently created: Top Venture Capitalists , Superfoods and Online Travel Websites.
Why should I build and promote search guides?
Search guides are a quick and easy way to augment existing online content. Linking to your search guides is an unobtrusive way to share large amounts of complimentary information without taking up too much screen space. Ultimately, users benefit from a search path that has been created and vetted by authors they trust.
Additionally, after our beta period, we intend to share advertising revenues with approved contributors. We believe that search guides will be an effective method to monetize online articles and user-generated content. How do I create a search guide?
Snirch search guides are dynamically created through links to the Snirch search.aspx page. You can use the form on our homepage to generate a trackable link or manually create a link using the following format:
http://www.snirch.com/search.aspx?l=football||basketball||baseball&pid=1234&t=Popular+Sports Note: Use the “l” querystring parameter for the list of keywords each separated by two pipe symbols (“||”). To track your usage, use the optional pid parameter to set your Contributor ID. (To sign up for a Contributor ID, click here.) Additionally, you can use the “t” querystring parameter to set a unifying theme for the keyword list. How do I promote my search guides?
As a rule, we expect responsible promotion that does not violate the terms of service of any website on which the links are posted.
For bloggers and website publishers: We recommend providing “Further Research” links at the bottom of your content that allow interested users to further research the topics covered in your articles. You can also use it as a single link that provides access to a variety of related concepts. Please note that we are willing to build customized tools to integrate search guides into your new and existing blog content on request. For more information, please contact us at info (at) snirch (dot) com. For twitter users: We recommended creating useful and relevant search guides and tweeting them to your followers. As with blogs, you can use it as a single link that provides access to a variety of related concepts. For example, a twitter account related to healthy living could send a brief tweet featuring a shortened link to a search guide about superfoods. For individuals: We recommend responsibly linking to your search guides through popular social networks. You can also use them to expand on information that you post on message boards, article comments and/or question and answer websites. How long does it take to build a search guide?
For experts with knowledge of the unifying theme, it typically entails around one to two minutes per search guide. All it takes is creating a link containing a list of recommended keywords. Don't believe us? Try creating and previewing a search guide using the form on our homepage.
